I swear I'm from the north

I've now lived in Atlanta over 8 years and my tolerance for cold is gone. Today was supposed to be a high of 52* so I decided to go out for a ride with Tim (friend from school that rides for Jittery Joes now), his friend Mike from the U23 Nationals Team and Eddie. What was supposed to be a 5 hour ride turned into a 2 hour ride because it never warmed up past 39* even at 1pm, and I just couldn't take it. I had what seemed like 10lb. of layers on (good thing I have a light bike), but my fingers were still numb and my core was getting a little too cold for comfort. I need some winter clothes!! Unfortunately the student budget isn't allowing for much these days :( Oh well, at least I didn't ride the trainer. I can't believe people in GA actually ride a trainer on a regular basis...now that is dedication. I'd rather freeze my butt off instead (and then complain about it, of course) :)

I went riding with a couple 29er junkies yesterday...One has a new Asylum and the other has a new ONE 9. Can you see the jealousy in my eyes....I can't help but feeling like I'm deserving of a new bike but I guess I did just get the Ghisallo. I guess I'll have to wait a little longer for a lighter 29er. I've got my eye on one of these

or one of these

.

11 days until my vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I lived in TX, then went to CT for 5 years before moving back to TX. I could never get used to the cold. I grew up in PA with harsh winters, but it didn't matter. Once you get used to the Southern Sun, there is no going back.

I agree with Chris. I used to go outside in shorts during freezing temps. Now that I have lived in SC for 7 years I have a hard time with anything below freezing.

However, I can't imagine ever riding a trainer.

I don't even want to hear it!!!

Namrita, you and Eddie better bring a lot of layers when you come visit. It's sooo freaking cold right now. I can't believe that I have to deal with this for months :-(

29'ers are for losers.
Trainers are for losers too.
Don't be a loser.

Namrita, come on you can do it!

25 deg today w/ a windchill near single digits. Sun was out though. Good enough to have me flee the basement/trainer and do a nice long ride outside today.

Danielle and I will be thinking about you suffering in those near freezing temps this winter ; )

29ers rock!
