Recovery Rides

Recovery rides are usually my least favorite..and so is winter base training. I always seem to get bored or find excuses to not do my recovery rides. Well, this year is different. I am really focusing on using these rides to work on my pedal stroke. Today I spent time on my road bike (which is really sweet, by the way) focusing solely on muscle awareness and use of the proper technique in my pedal stroke. I could hear Tom's voice in my head as I rode. There is so much more to it than just pedaling in circles. I would bet that most people that think their pedal stroke is "it" would be surprised that there might be a lot of room for improvement. Of course, I never would have realized it without undergoing the Wobble-naught fit first of all, but then also the Myo-facts and Dartfish analysis. Eddie and I are looking forward to being able to provide these services to others as soon as we can. As for me, I still have work to do to make this all second-nature. It's easy enough to do when I'm really focused on it, but I don't want to revert back to bad form and bad pedaling habits when I start racing again. I can tell when what I'm doing is working, though, because my big leg muscles are getting worked, and it feels GOOD.
