For the ladies...
They are in. Check them out..I got mine today! The Betty has a pink skull..how cool is that.
Sorry for the upcoming rant..I just have to get it out. If you don't want to read it..then look away now.
Begin rant.
So..after not even giving this one ounce of energy in the last several months plus...Today, I got some updates on the local "team" I used to belong to from someone that is still close to them. I didn't ask..nor did I really want to hear..but she obviously needed to vent.
I quoted "team" because, to me, it's not a mountain bike team, it's a f-ing sorority. I am so much happier not being associated with them or their stupid rules, popularity contests, blah blah blah. I would have thought things have changed for the better in the last year since I (and others) left..but no. It sounds like the same old B.S. and it truly makes me sick. C'mon people..that is not what mountain biking is about.. It's OK to talk to people and cheer for people that aren't wearing your colors or in your self-created cool crowd. Get over yourselves. You are in your 30's..stop trying to relive your sorority board of director days. I am embarassed that I actually recruited members for this "team"..and helped them with sponsor contacts. I really do believe in supporting women mountain bikers, and I have since I started riding. I have led clinics, answered hours of questions over email and forums, taken beginner women out on the trail one-on-one.. But, I don't believe that means that women mountain bikers have to buy into this sorority B.S. It's just sad.
End rant.
Phew. I feel better.
P.S. Sorry if I offended anyone by using the "sorority" word. I do know there are cool sorority chicks..my sister is one :)

Nam...I won't be returning to the sorority myself. I gave it another year and nothing changed. In fact...it just got worse.
I too wanted to be supportive of the sorority sisters and gave it another year.I think I have cried at least twice. I know, there is no crying in MOUNTAIN BIKING. I can hear my husband now..."did I not tell you...."
I think you should make the shirts. We'll take two!!
AMEN!
thats interesting mallie....just two weeks ago you were begging for money on the "sorority" forum board.
mountain,
too bad you can't say stuff signed with your real name.
anyway, i no longer have the "privelage" of having access to your message board, however, I do know that Mallie is raising money for a charitable cause..the 24 hours of Booty..she is hardly begging for money. I thought the "team" supported charitable giving etc? Or, is this not on the "board of directors" approved list of charities? What about supporting your team members? Did Mallie not pay her dues like the rest of the team? Why should her efforts not be recognized?
